Who We Are
Sarah A. Reed
Sarah Reed is an Associate Professor in the Department of Animal Science at the University of Connecticut. Sarah earned her M.S. in Animal Science and her Ph.D. in Animal Molecular and Cellular Biology under the mentorship of Sally Johnson at the University of Florida. Sarah then spent two years in Andrew Judge’s lab in the Department of Physical Therapy at the University of Florida as a post doctoral researcher. Sarah’s research interest is the regulation of muscle and muscle satellite cells during growth and disease conditions.
Graduate Students
Katelyn Ortolani
Katelyn’s research project focuses on the effects of poor maternal diet during gestation on mitochondrial function in offspring. Katelyn earned her BS degree in Animal Science from the University of Rhode Island.
Cheyenne Summers
Cheyenne’s Ph.D. research focuses on the effects of body condition during gestation and lactation on metabolism in mares and growth outcomes in foals. Cheyenne earned her BS in Animal Sciences and her MS in Comparative Biosciences from the University of Illinois.
